We recognise your time is valuable, that is why we strive for an efficient service meaning you can expect your visit to be around 2 ½ hours from admission to discharge. This can vary slightly depending on the day.

On the day of your procedure, you will be greeted by our friendly admission staff. Our pre-admission nurse will take you through a health check, complete paperwork and get you ready for your procedure. Following a short wait in our admission bays, our nursing team assists you to the procedure room where you will see your Anaesthetist and Specialist, you will be given sedation (light anaesthetic) prior to your procedure.

Please ensure you bring with you any medication you are currently taking on the day of your procedure, we have a medicine fridge that is available to refrigerate medication when needed.

You will have an opportunity to speak with your gastroenterologist prior to your procedure to discuss symptoms and concerns. Following your procedure, all patients are reviewed by their doctor prior to discharge and receive a copy of their report and discharge instructions to take home.

At GIH Access Endoscopy, we have a strict policy and requirement that all patients require an escort to and from their procedure. We do not allow our patients to drive themselves home, stay at a residence or hotel alone or catch Rideshare/Public Transport home. We have a duty of care for our patients and as medical professionals, we do not believe it is safe to do this due to the anaesthetic administered prior to the procedure.
